Break open the Rum because one of poker's most highly sought-after tournaments is coming back!
The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) will begin on Jan. 4, 2009 at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas. Despite the fact the Caribbean is hundred of miles away, the 2009 PCA will be an official European Poker Tour Event, is not exactly in Europe.
Last year's event attracted more than 1,000 players, making it one of the largest playing fields assembled outside of North America and generating a massive prize pool of over $8.5 million.
Team PokerStars pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier was the eventual champion of the 2008 PCA took home $2 million for the win. Grospellier commented, “The PCA is always a special tournament for poker players, especially because the location is so great, there are so many online qualifiers, and the atmosphere is very special. Players are usually much younger, too, and I know many more of them as we always play with each other on PokerStars.”
In addition to a cast composed of the usual plethora of Team PokerStars players like Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, and Chris Moneymaker and of course Grospellier will return to defend his title.
The PCA Main Event boasts a $7,800 + $200 buy-in Step tournaments start at $7.50 for a PCA seat all the way up to the sixth and final buy-in in the steps tournament, which has a $2,100 price tag. Double shootout tournaments begin at $11. PokerStars makes a concerted effort to promote its steps tournaments; its website notes: "Place in the top two spots in any of the PCA Steps events and we’ll give you a ticket to the next step. Make it all the way to Step 6 and you’ll play in a two-table tournament that gives the top three finishers a $12,000 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package."

Best Poker Sites for Canadians
There are so many poker sites for a Canadian Poker player to choose from that it can make your head spin! Our goal is to make this process even easier for you and provide you with a list of the best poker sites for a person from Canada.
Top 3 Poker Sites for Canadians
1) Pokerstars.com - Pokerstars is not just the best poker site for Canadians, it is the BEST POKER SITE period! They hold the biggest online tournaments, which include their weekly Sunda Millions tournament where they guarantee a $1 Million Dollar prize pool every weekend. Every year they hold an event called the World Cup of Poker where players from Canada can qualify for free to be on the team. The winnining team get’s $100,000 which is divided amongst the 10 team members. Pokerstars is also the busiest of all poker sites, which means you will always find a game at any time of the day. You can qualify for major events like the WSOP and all sorts of other land-based events through online qualifiers. Visit Pokerstars.com now
2) Party Poker - PartyPoker.com is the 2nd best site for Canadian Poker Players. In 2006, Party Poker stopped allowing players from the United States and started aggressively marketing in other countries (including Canada). They offered better value tournaments for players in these countries and since most of the US poker sharks left the site, the competition has gotten very easy. This is probably the easiest poker site for Canadians. Visit Party Poker now
3) Full Tilt Poker - This is the site where a lot of the professional poker players play. Don’t be surprised to login at any time of the day and see poker players like Gus Hansen, Mike Matusow, Phil Ivey and many others. Though Full Tilt doesn’t run many Canadian specific promotions they still are the 2nd busiest poker site and have some of the best online tournaments with HUGE guaranteed prize pools. For example, their FTOPS tournament had a $20Million Guarantee last time it ran! Visit Full Tilt Poker now
I hope you found this article informative, and if you think another online poker site is better for Canadians post it in our comments and we will investigate.
Good luck!

European Commission ends US online gaming dispute
The European Commission has ended the long running online gaming dispute with the US by accepting a compensation package which would provide openings in other business sectors.
A Spokesperson from Brussels said it would still be pressing the US for a non-discriminatory policy towards online gambling despite the agreement being reached.
According to Reuters news agency, the Commission signed a bilateral agreement in Geneva which would provide EU service suppliers with new trade opportunities in the US postal and courier, research and development, storage and warehouse sectors.
Shares in online gaming firms dropped once this news was announced, which effectively has shut off the US market for the near future to the Big Online Gaming Operators.
If you are a US Poker Player don't worry we have a number of poker sites available to you - Top US Poker Rooms. These include Pokerstars, Bodog Poker and Full Tilt Poker.
